{"id":2238,"date":"2021-06-26T18:27:43","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T18:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/?p=2238"},"modified":"2021-07-10T16:56:11","modified_gmt":"2021-07-10T16:56:11","slug":"its-a-wrap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/?p=2238","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s a wrap . . ."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gs\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<div id=\":1w0\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":1w1\" class=\"a3s aiL \">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Lee-M-at-work.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2240 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Lee-M-at-work-300x221.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"508\" height=\"374\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Lee-M-at-work-300x221.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Lee-M-at-work-1024x754.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Lee-M-at-work-768x566.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Lee-M-at-work-1536x1132.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Lee-M-at-work-2048x1509.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 508px) 100vw, 508px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>WOAS-FM Wraps Year<\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">WOAS-FM will wrap up the COVID influenced 2020-2021 broadcast year at the end of June.\u00a0 We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who helped fund our transmitter repair last fall and the students who jumped on board for the second semester of what turned out to be a most unusual year, to say the least.<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">An added TY goes out to Lee McCaffery (pictured) for joining WOAS-FM last year and sticking it out through the ups and downs of the COVID closures and restrictions.\u00a0 Once upon a time, WOAS played host to a full evening schedule of live DJs.\u00a0 While names like Doug Filppula, Linda Graham, Brian Nowicki, Mo Anton, Jim Block, Zenith Bennett, and a host of others may not be recognizable to our newer listeners, they were the basis for an eclectic array of WOAS-FM evening programs across the years.\u00a0 As volunteers, our DJs have freely given their time to our broadcast schedule before life and jobs required them to move on.\u00a0 With fewer live voices in the mix, WOAS-FM has relied on\u00a0syndicated programs like\u00a0<i>The Beale Street Caravan<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Acoustic Rainbow, The Midnight Special, Dr, Duck&#8217;s Rx For Guitar<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>The Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour\u00a0<\/i>to fill the evening hours.\u00a0 For the coming broadcast year, we would like to open our doors to other people in the community who might like to share their love of music.\u00a0 Training is minimal, and as I tell all new DJs, &#8220;If learned to do this, you can, too.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">Lee McCaffery is a great example of how to volunteer your time.\u00a0 Lee called me in the 2019-20 broadcast year and asked if he could get involved with WOAS-FM.\u00a0 Lee had some experience spinning records for his ship-wide radio station back in his Navy days, but nothing since.\u00a0 Lee has occupied our Friday evening schedule ever since and has a good following from 7 to 10 PM on both the local airwaves and our\u00a0 internet feed at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.woas-fm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.woas-fm.org&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1624818181990000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHw5jUGoKiW4WMOdMrvV-kvnjWu7g\">www.woas-fm.org<\/a> .\u00a0 Even when the face to face schooling was not possible, Lee was nice enough to keep his Friday slot going when school was in virtual mode.\u00a0 Thank you one and all for your contributions and comments to WOAS-FM\u00a0 88.5.\u00a0 We will let you know when the new broadcast year resumes in mid-August of 2021.\u00a0 Even when WOAS-FM is off air, we check our messages frequently at 906 813 0614 X113 and at <a href=\"mailto:kraisanen@oasd.k12.mi.us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">kraisanen@oasd.k12.mi.us<\/a>\u00a0.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"adL\">Top Piece Video: &#8220;You heard on your radio&#8221;
