Okay – I have seen it – The Best – a band with Joe Walsh and Jeff ‘Skunk’ Baxter on guitars, John Entwhistle on Bass, Simon Phillips on drums and a few assorted others . . . but this totally passed me by. \u00a0Clip here was recorded in Japan in 1990 . . . Joe W looks like he was having a lot of ‘fun’ – I don’t think this was a dry band, by any means. \u00a0Who knew? \u00a0k<\/p>\n

The Best<\/b> was a short-lived supergroup<\/a> featuring Keith Emerson<\/a> (of Emerson, Lake & Palmer<\/a>) on keyboards, John Entwistle<\/a> (of The Who<\/a>) on bass and vocals, Joe Walsh<\/a> (Eagles<\/a>, James Gang<\/a>, and solo fame) on guitar and vocals, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter<\/a> (Steely Dan<\/a>, the Doobie Brothers<\/a>) on guitar, and Simon Phillips<\/a> (the Jack Bruce<\/a> Band, 801<\/a>, the Jeff Beck<\/a> Group; later of Toto<\/a>) on drums. Relative unknown Rick Livingstone<\/a>[1]<\/a><\/sup> sang lead vocals (along with Walsh and Entwistle). Backing vocals were provided by Hamish, Angus and Fergus Richardson of the band Brother<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n In a 1994 interview posted on The Who mailing list Entwistle said that The Best had toured Japan, and that an American tour had been planned but never came to fruition.[2]<\/a><\/sup> In the same interview he also noted that drummer Zak Starkey<\/a> had also been “in the band a while”, presumably before Phillips joined.<\/span><\/p>\n In 2010, a DVD of the band’s 26 September 1990 performance in Yokohama, Japan was released.[3]<\/a><\/sup><\/span>
